Ride to School Days – 2020
Once again the ever popular ride to school days lead in event to Towers Rush has arrived. Charters Towers Regional Council and Adventurethon Australia are proud to deliver this fun event to you.
This year the rides will be held on the 31st August (Columba College, Central State School & Blackheath and Thornburgh College) and on the 1st September (All Souls & Richmond Hill State School). Ride start times are 7:00 am and arrival at schools should be completed by 8:30 am.
Columba, Central and Blackheath kids (and parents can ride too) will meet at the corner of Burdekin and Water Streets at 7:00 am on the 31st August.
All Souls & Richmond Hill will meet at the Charters Towers Airport, Corinda Ave, at 7:00 am on the 1st September.
Road Safety
The rides will be supervised by local Police, Adventurethon staff and volunteers, and any parents that wish to accompany their children. It is important that everyone arrive on time to allow bikes to be checked for safety and for organisers to deliver a safety briefing before we depart for schools. All relevant road rules will be complied with.
Bikes
To participate in the ride students must have a bike in good working order; fully functioning brakes sound tyres, functioning pedals/gears (if fitted), and a working bell. Undamaged bike helmets are mandatory as is suitable footwear (school shoes are fine). It is also a good idea to carry a drink for your children to consume during the ride.
